About Laurien

Laurien is a Dutch pop artist whose music blends nostalgia, energy, and unapologetic self-expression. Raised in a small village, she grew up surrounded by nature, a big family, and the freedom to explore her creativity. Long before she ever stepped on stage, music had already become a constant presence in her life. Whether it was a piano in the corner of a room or a melody stuck in her head, she felt an undeniable pull towards creating music.

Although that passion was always there, confidence didn't come as naturally. For years, Laurien followed a more conventional path, studying creative design and later Music & Technology, while quietly wondering whether a career in music was truly within reach. The question that ultimately changed everything was simple: At seventy years old, looking back on her life, would she regret not giving music a real chance? The answer was clear.

Today, Laurien creates vibrant pop music rooted in freedom, growth, love, and self-discovery. Her songs combine driving guitars, shimmering synths, infectious hooks, and honest storytelling. Drawing from her own experiences as a queer woman, she writes about navigating life, relationships, and identity, while embracing the belief that everyone deserves to live authentically and on their own terms.

“Life's too short to spend it wondering what could have been”

Together with producer Rinus van de Weerd, Laurien is developing a sound that is bold, uplifting, and built for live audiences. Her performances are driven by connection, energy, and the joy of bringing people together through music. Whether it's a packed room singing along or a personal conversation after a show, those moments of connection are at the heart of why she does what she does.

Laurien is only just getting started. Her mission is to create music that empowers people to trust themselves, take chances, and embrace the life they truly want. One song at a time, she is turning a lifelong dream into reality. Because life is too short to spend it wondering what could have been.
